One of my favorite parts of this business is the friendships I make with fellow vendors. So about a year ago over lunch with my friends Eryn and Alex of LewChan Photography I brought up a crazy idea I'd been floating around in my head about doing a completely foraged wedding. I forage for greenery and other unique floral pieces all the time around Austin and I wanted to really stretch myself for the challenge of foraging for ALL floral. Eryn and Alex immediately were like yes! Let's do it! And that's how the idea for Flora + Fauna was born. Eryn was really the engine behind getting this styled shoot off the ground. She pulled together a fabulous team of vendors to contribute to making Flora + Fauna a reality.

Rooey Knots contributed sustainable and unique hair pieces that she created out of men's neckties.Song also wore delicate jewelry by Kate Winternitz. And local Austin calligrapher Colore Grace created all of our beautiful calligraphy, both on paper and on leaves! __LewChan_Photography_LewChan229_low

Foraging for all floral elements would be a challenge in Austin any time of the year, but it was an especially big challenge since we scheduled the shoot for July. In Texas. Had we not had a very wet spring and early summer, this shoot would have really been difficult. But I had no problem sourcing dozens of greens including cypress, pecan, and oak tree leaves, bamboo, mustang grapes and vine, rosemary, and loquat. I also used figs, crepe myrtle, garden roses, mountain laurel seed pods, and geraniums.

The table arrangements I put together paired so well with the glass terrariums and brass elements from
Loot Vintage. A huge shout out to our stylist Jen Sanregret of Sanregret Weddings & Events who helped us arrange the most beautiful table. Tiny Pies contributed the darling desserts. Trust me when I say they taste even better than they look! The strawberry rhubarb was my favorite!

Another artist along for the ride that day was Hannah Lee who also lives in Austin. Eryn found Hannah on Instagram and knew she had to be a part of Flora & Fauna :) She PAINTS weddings. Hannah created an expressionistic painting of the happenings of the shoot that day and we were all blown away. Such a unique and fun twist!__LewChan_Photography_LewChan123_low
This was such a fun shoot! I loved the challenge of foraging everything and would love to do this for an actual wedding one day!
